Alan Hamblett

Job Title

Head of Commercial Litigation Department.

Role

Alan is a member in the Litigation department. He deals with debt recovery and commercial litigation for clients nationally in the manufacturing, property, brewing and leisure sectors. He also advises insolvency practitioners.

Experience

Alan has acted for :

• several high street banks and mortgage lenders in the recovery of secured and unsecured lending and repossession of mortgaged property
  
• a large PR consultancy in a substantial damages claim against ICL, establishing a precedent in the concept of equitable estoppel
  
• a wallpaper manufacturer in the successful defence of a claim brought by Laura Ashley for infringement of copyright
  
• several property management companies in the collection of arrears of rent and service charges on residential and commercial properties and forfeiture of leases 
  
• several breweries and pub owning companies in the recovery of rent and trade debts

Background

After training and qualifying as a solicitor with Addleshaws in Manchester, he became a partner and head of commercial litigation with regional firm Howes Percival based in Northampton before establishing his own niche practice in 1994 to deal exclusively with litigation for commercial clients in the drinks and property sectors. He joined Borneos in Milton Keynes at the beginning of 2007 to augment the growing commercial team.

Married with two grown up sons and a toddler. Interests include rugby, motorcycling and playing bass guitar.
